Privacy Policy

Tura is a learning app that teaches from the books and papers you give it. This policy explains what we collect when you use Tura on the web, on iPhone and Android, and on desktop, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Questions go to hello@turalearn.com.

Who we are

Tura is run by TURA Solutions Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, with its registered office in Bartle House, Oxford Court, Manchester M2 3WQ, United Kingdom (“Tura”, “we”). We are the controller of the personal data described here.

What we collect

• Your account. Your name and email address, and the sign-in method you chose (email and password, Google, or Apple). If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only receive Apple’s relay address.
• What you study. The PDFs, notes and question papers you upload; your chats with Tura and your study sessions; your answers; and the progress Tura records about what you know.
• Your plan. Whether you are on a free or paid plan, your credit balance, and payment references. Card and UPI details are handled by our payment providers (Razorpay in India and Dodo Payments elsewhere) and never reach us.
• Technical records. Request logs (IP address, time, and errors) that we keep to secure and fix the service, and your device’s time zone, so your daily activity is shown on the right day.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. The apps read only the files you choose to add; they do not access your contacts, location, or photo library.

How we use it, and why we are allowed to

To teach you: to read your material, write explanations and questions from it, mark your answers, and remember where you stand so the next session picks up from there. We also use it to keep your library the same across your devices, to run your plan and credits, to keep the service secure, and to answer you when you contact us.

• To provide Tura to you, which is the contract between us: your account, your library, teaching, your plan and payments.
• Our legitimate interests in keeping Tura secure and working: request logs, a check that you are a person before free study is used (Cloudflare Turnstile), preventing abuse, and fixing faults.
• Legal obligations, such as keeping payment records for tax.

AI models

Tura’s tutor runs on AI models from third-party providers, reached through OpenRouter. When Tura teaches or answers you, the relevant parts of your material and your messages are sent to those providers to produce a response. We do not use your material to train AI models. AI can be wrong: check what Tura tells you against your course material, and follow your institution’s rules on using AI in assessed work.

Where your data is kept and who else handles it

Your library, study history and progress are stored on our servers in Germany (Hetzner, Nuremberg), kept separate for each account. We use these service providers, each only for its part of the service:

• Hetzner (Germany): the servers that store your library and run Tura
• Google Firebase: sign-in, and plan and billing records
• Google and Apple: signing in with their accounts, if you choose to
• OpenRouter and the AI model providers it connects to: generating Tura’s responses
• Cloudflare: the Turnstile check that you are a person
• Vercel: hosting turalearn.com
• Ybug: the feedback button in the web app, which sends a screenshot only when you choose to report something
• Razorpay (in India) and Dodo Payments (everywhere else): taking payments. Outside India, Dodo Payments sells Tura Pro to you as merchant of record and handles your payment and tax invoice under its own privacy policy.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, in our agreements with them.

We share information beyond this only when the law requires it, or with a successor if Tura’s business is transferred, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.

Cookies and storage on your device

Tura uses only what it needs to work: storage in your browser or app that keeps you signed in and remembers your settings, and the check that you are a person. We use no advertising or analytics cookies, so there is nothing to consent to and no cookie banner.

How long we keep it, and deleting your account

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time: in the app, under Settings → Account, or at turalearn.com/delete-account. This removes your books, notes, papers, chats, study history, progress and profile from our servers, deletes your sign-in, and stops Tura Pro renewing. Request logs are kept only as long as needed to secure and fix the service. We keep records of payments for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually six years. Data the Mac app keeps on your Mac is removed when you delete the app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email hello@turalearn.com and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Tura is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections, each account’s data is kept separate from every other account’s, and access to our servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app or by email before a significant change takes effect.
